We install Napco Alarm Systems. There are many systems on the market today and we have tested and priced most of them. We have chosen Napco Systems because of the quality of their manufacturing, the level of manufacturer’s support and their reliability over many years of service.
Even with a quality system, the product itself will not get the job done if it is not installed properly. Many companies will tease consumers with offers of “Free” installation. The old saying “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true” also applies to alarm systems. Many of the companies who make this offer use lower grade equipment that doesn’t stand up to the test of time. Further, many of these companies often use unlicensed subcontractors to do the work. All wiring or cabling done in your home by anyone other than the homeowner MUST be done by someone with a valid electrical license! Demand to see their license! If they claim not to need one because they are working under someone else’s license, refuse their service. Again, the person doing the work must hold a valid license! Licensed installers must follow the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 70) which is the National Electric Code (NEC). Not only do these codes represent the minimum requirements for all cabling and wiring, but Insurance Companies use these Electrical Codes as a reference for insurance claims and liability. We recommend that you note your installers name and license number in your alarm system manual and tuck it away for future reference in case it is needed. |
